Ever Wonder how the commission process works?

So you think you might be interested in a commission but also nervous to pull the trigger… I get it! Commissions may seem scary but they are actually the best part of my job!

Choosing artwork for your home can seem like a daunting task. Art is a VERY personal purchase and there is SO MUCH beautiful artwork in the world to choose from. However, you might have a specific area that needs a piece that you just aren’t finding. Or you love an artist but none of their current work is exactly what you need. Don’t worry… most artist (including myself) commission artwork for clients and designers each and every day.

So what does It really mean when you commission a piece of art?

Commissions can seem like a scary thing because you can’t see the end result. BUT don’t worry… what you are actually getting in the end is a piece that is customized just for you. I always tell my clients that I never want a commissioned piece to be married to a space. Life happens where you can move or change up the decor in your room etc. But if you love the piece you commissioned, you will make that piece work in your home forever!

My personal commission process is a bit of a handholding one. We look at past pieces you love, figure out what elements you like/don’t like and I go to work. A few weeks later I will start sending pictures of your piece based off of our conversations, fabrics, pictures etc and we will tweak the piece together. This is where having a commissioned piece is worth It… because if any changes need to be done, we can do It until It is exactly as you want It!

Don’t be scared to commission artwork. It is actually a great process and you get to know the artist a little more one on one. If you love the artist and their work, the end result could be better than you imagined- trust me!
